Vhs Or Beta - Night On Fire (Cut Copy Remix)
Found at Night On Fire (Cut Copy Remix) on KOhit.net

Night On Fire (Cut Copy Remix) - VHS or Beta

Suitcase packed on the side of the road
Rainin' down from my head to my feet
It seems so strange in the back of my heart
That these sounds were never meant to believe

I'm set free and I'm ready to go
You can't stop me and you already know
The best days of our lives have yet to come

Back and forth through the city we'll go
New sounds comin' out of the streets
Don't look back to the parody show
Of sellin' your souls to the beat

No one saw the night behind the sky
I bet you never wondered why
You're sitting here in the midst of nowhere

Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire

Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire
Put your hands together and we'll light this night
We'll light this night on fire

Two times back again, we're leavin' this behind
And when you hear from you'll know it when it's time
We're listenin' believin' that it's true
I feel it, you know I feel it

We'll light the night on fire
We'll light the night on fire
We'll light the night on fire
We'll light the night on fire

Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Yeah yeah yeah yeah

Lollapalooza day 2 reviewed

Wow what a day. I'm completely exhausted but I have to write this up while it's still fresh in my mind. Here's who I saw:

The Morning Benders - Great. They're so adorable! I got up actually in the morning just to come see them cause there was nobody else I really wanted to hear for hours after them and although they played a short set, it was totally worth it. I then stood in line and got an autographed CD and totally dorky photo op.

The Soft Pack - Pretty good. I heard them while waiting for signatures from The Morning Benders. Sounded decent. The girl I was next to said they sounded like the White Stripes a little. I'm not sure if I agree but I guess I'll YouTube them and form an opinion from that.

Blues Traveler - Good. Not my usual scene but they were catchy and upbeat. I just stretched out and enjoyed the sun during the show but I could see people dancing and having fun.

Gogol Bordello - Pretty good. I spent most of this show at the way back looking for my friends so to be fair, I don't think I got the full effect but yeah they seemed fun and had some cool outfits.

Grizzly Bear - Pretty good. They sounded different than I expected live and we missed "Two Weeks" (maybe they opened with it?) so it was a bit of a disappointment. But yeah, it was pretty good. Perhaps it would've been better closer to the stage?

Metric - Very good. They're as good live as on their albums, if not better. Very talented and everyone in the crowd was enthusiastic. (Side note: totally saw a girl pass out twice in a row from the heat at this show. Everyone be careful and stay hydrated!)

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes - Great. I heard them for the first time at Bonnaroo and since then have become a fan. They sound great live. Wish I could've gotten a ticket to see them in NYC... next time I guess...

Kaskade - Good. I only caught a couple of minutes but it was solid. Would've been better late at night but yeah.

Cut Copy - Best of the day. I looooooove them! I super groupied out and bought a t-shirt and pushed to a good spot in the crowd (which was pretty crazy) and recorded as much as my little cell phone could handle. I danced and I sang along and the lights were changing colors and it was serendipitous. They played a couple of new tracks which were, of course, awesome. Can't wait to get the new album when it finally comes out.

Empire of the Sun - Great. This show was packed with people cheering "fuck Green Day". There were costumed dancers and smoke and lights and sexy tunes and visuals and it was such a beautiful overload seriously. Unfortunately I got stuck to the right of the stage after barely surviving the crush zone with the help of some Canadians. I can't even make this stuff up. So I had to watch from the side and couldn't get the full effect but I can tell you that Luke Steele was wearing his signature head piece (cool!). Check this youtube video for a better idea of what I'm sure the show was like from the crush zone. It was also crucial that I go to this because I had to give up my Empire of the Sun ticket for Monday to be here but it'll all be worth it.

Phew after all that I was exhausted and ready to go to bed but then finally, at around 1:30 a.m., I convinced myself to meet my friend at the afterparty with JFK from MSTRKRFT and Midnight Conspiracy, after all, I planned my afterparties around Midnight Conspiracy but didn't make it out last night. Well, when I got there I realized my friend's phone had died and I was alone but I decided to have fun anyway. It was really sick this venue, Vision, is like 6 stories I think. I thought I was going some back way and found myself in a whole second dj area. Eventually, I spotted Louis Kha from Midnight Conspiracy on stage and let some random drunk local sneak with me onto the back of the stage so I could say hi. He's totally chill. He said they aren't playing anything Monday or Tuesday, my last two days here, so I know I can't miss the afterparty with Digitalism even for an hour tomorrow if I want to see them live, which I do. Definitely should have gone out earlier tonight and not vegged out with microwave pizza for so long =/

I'll add photos at a later date.

It's my dream but it's yours if you want it too

NEW CUT COPY! free download on circle.square.triangle! Any help correcting the lyrics particularly on the last part would be greatly appreciated. I just winged it...

Where I'm Going - Cut Copy

Take my hand if you know what I'm going through
Take my hand if you know where I'm going
All you need is a dream and a lover, too
All you need is a dream and a lover

Oooh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Oooh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo

Take my hand cause I know what you're going through
Half the time I have no way of knowing
It's my dream but it's yours if you want it too
It's a journey that's yours if you want it

Oooh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Oooh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Oooh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, woo
Oooh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah

Love sets you free
I'm in the hands of dreams
Love's the fantasy
To what they will agree

Oooh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Oooh, yeah, yeah, woo
Oooh-oh, oooh, oooh-oh, oooh, oooh, oooh

Separating seasons and I think of you

Today sometimes a morning is one year old!

I am a much bigger Cut Copy fan than my blog may lead readers to believe. I've seen them live, I have all their music, they are the second-most listened to artist in my library only after Passion Pit because I used to listen to "Sleepyhead" on repeat every night to get to sleep. If you eliminate that one song, it's safe to say Cut Copy is my favorite music. Thus, it is more than appropriate that this song be my post to celebrate one year of this blog's existence.

At this point I feel pretty comfortable with what sometimes a morning is about. My main question now is does anyone I know read it? I know at least two people have told me they check it now and then. This question has me combing my page hits trying to see if anyone clicked over from my facebook page or from some other site that may imply that we're friends.

Nobody Lost, Nobody Found - Cut Copy

Always crashing to the ground
Always from the same height
Always falling down
And if you start a fashion now
Make me a believer
The seas will part somehow

Staring at a silver sun
I'm blinded
I can see you almost in my town
Nothing but a sea of blue
Separating seasons
And I think of you

Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love

Walking through a paper town
Counting all the reasons to burn the others down
Seems like every chance I take
Brings me ever closer to being far away

Black out, keep your colors dim
So nobody can see you
And let the ghost back in
Leave me heading to the ground
Always from the same height
And always falling down

Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love

(Building, building, building gone)
(Bulging bones are hard to hold)
(Mold is forming on the ground)
(Nobody is lost, nobody is found)
(Building, building, building gone)
(Bulging bones are hard to hold)
(Mold is forming on the ground)
(Nobody is lost, nobody is found)

Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love
Oh, oh, oh, burning in the face of love

run to the lights of the city

i can download hundreds of unknowns and remixes from music blogs but at the end of the day i need my cut copy. i'm in a really weird place right now. hoping weird doesn't become dark but there are some academic issues weighing on me, per usual. it was easier when i had my laptop working with my 50 sticky note lists. i had such a long list of good words and phrases and then last night i called my friend crotchety and cantankerous and had nowhere to write it. i may go back to writing lists in my moleskine or even put them on here. *shrug*. i'm not saying i'm sad right now but the last time i failed a class it was really hard to find myself again. but then again, i've been through this before, i can do it again. and i have all these lists of fun things and exciting things forming in my head and in the margins of my sudoku book. the lists remind me i have so much fun stuff i could be doing. i've been home over a week now and haven't hung out with any friends. not a single one. i guess i'm punishing myself. aren't i always? i have this paper and it's 2 weeks overdue and grades are already in so there's really no point in me writing it but i'm not letting myself have fun until i write it and send it off with an apologetic email. the worst is that i really liked the class it was for and now ive probably failed it. i can be such an impulsive child when it comes to my schoolwork. hey, at least i know that and can try like hell to fix it. this adds to my list of reasons to change my life plan around and not attend law school. law school is for people who love to study. i just love to argue. i can't even think that far ahead. i'm taking it one hour at a time in my attempt to do this paper that won't count for anything anyway. hopefully at least the professor will see i cared so if/when i want to retake it he doesnt think i'm a complete goof-off... am i living in a "fantasy world" as my dad would call it? it's kinda sad how i can't talk to him anymore about academic stuff. i really could use his pushing but it leads to huge tension and he stresses himself out over my homework. i see no quick fixes here. all i know is when it comes to this end of semester bomb i feel ashamed. very ashamed. i wonder how i can redeem myself. perhaps an extended sobriety and/or a summer course. well, looks like i def need a summer course to make up credits, which will cut into my photo class plans at least financially if not also in scheduling. there are bugs EVERYWHERE in my room. i have a moth problem and i just killed a huge fly and while i was at school an ant colony invaded the bathroom and now has moved to my room. i keep myself very clean and my room very dirty. perhaps because i've always had cleaning ladies. i hate it i try to tell them not to come in my room. i feel like im living in a hotel often. all my personal things are hidden to declutter and nothing feels permanent so i try to make a nest where there may not be a place for everything but everything's in it's place and i don't find my external hard drive in my clothing closet like i did this week. i know this may sound really spoiled of me to complain about having someone clean my room but until it's forced on you, you don't know how uncomfortable it can be. i'll make my own bed for half their pay, how's that dad? once i deal with the ants. once i deal with this paper. and then i can take a deep breath and dive into my lists of projects. that is going to feel so amazing. motivation enough to work on it right now! i got my bowl of kashi and soy milk drizzled in honey and cut copy on repeat =)
